Posted on Feb 19 2009 Back
The City of Chattanooga Department of Education, Arts & Culture (EAC) announces the debut of the “WhatIsArt2Me.org” video message from Mayor Ron Littlefield. “WhatIsArt2Me.org” is part of the 2009 Campaign for Allied Arts of Greater Chattanooga to help raise awareness of the impact of the arts on Chattanooga.
The “WhatIsArt2Me.org” video is a message from the Mayor celebrating Chattanooga as a destination city for the arts. It will appear on the websites for the City of Chattanooga, EAC, and Allied Arts of Greater Chattanooga on Wednesday, February 18, 2009.
Mayor Ron Littlefield says, “The arts are for everyone. It’s an exciting element that all citizens can enjoy. Whether it’s something playful like the Coolidge Park fountain or the awe-inspiring public art displays, plays, performances and museums – Chattanooga truly is a creative, imaginative and artistic place. Soon you will be hearing exciting things about the arts through a campaign that helps position our beautiful city as a true destination for the arts and for artists of all types. Thank you to Allied Arts for contributing to the beauty of our city by ensuring that the arts are everywhere.”
EAC Administrator Missy Crutchfield says, “Chattanooga has become one of the most livable cities in the world. The Allied Arts “WhatisArt2Me.org” Campaign is part of a combined effort which will resonate inside as well as outside of Chattanooga, positioning Chattanooga as a true destination for the arts! Chattanooga is a great city, and a city of vision, compassion, creativity, and now a city of the arts!” One of our favorite things to do at EAC is connect the dots, with this we are connecting with so many amazing creative folks and organizations, beginning with Allied Arts, and sending a unified message about how important the arts are to this city and this Mayor. After all, our mayor actually attended art school. This is an exciting time for all Chattanoogans!”
Allied Arts of Greater Chattanooga President Dan Bowers says, “We are thrilled with the emphasis Mayor Littlefield and the City of Chattanooga are putting on the Arts. Allied Arts mission, simply stated, is to strengthen the Arts in Chattanooga. Our partnership with the Mayor and the City certainly helps us achieve that mission. We have just launched a public awareness campaign called WhatIsArt2Me.org, in which we are engaging the community in defining art as they see it. Through this campaign we believe everyone will be reminded that art is everywhere and that, rightly defined, we all are touched by the positive effects of art in our daily lives. We’re fortunate to have leaders who understand the value of the Arts to the quality of life in Chattanooga.”
