Allied Arts Partners with Riverbend for a VIP Opportunity
Posted on Jun 04 2010 Back
Purchase VIP “STAR” seating at Allied Arts for the CSO's performance with the WayBacks on Sunday, June 13th and a portion of the sales will support Allied Arts and our arts community. Allied Arts also has Riverbend Pins and Single Night Wristbands for sale.
On Sunday night, June 13th, a musical experience will be presented on Riverbend's Coca-Cola stage unlike anything this region has ever seen or heard before. And it's an iron-clad guarantee that they will never see it again, as well. A "super group" of bluegrass, blues and Americana musicians have been gathered together to front the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera in a once-in-a-lifetime performance, as they cover one of rock's most beloved classic albums.
The "Riverbend Mystery Rock Revue" features the San Francisco based progressive-grass icons "The Waybacks", who have been known to cover albums as diverse as Led Zeppelin II and the Rolling Stones "Sticky Fingers" in the past. They've invited one of the purest voices in Americana music, the founding member of The NewGrass Revival and Chattanooga favorite John Cowan as a guest vocalist.
Joining him will be 90's hitmaker, touring member of The Grateful Dead and critical darling Joan Osborne ("What if God Was...One of Us"), also adding her distinctive blues wail. Other "mystery" guests may be added as showtime approaches.
One hot rumor is that banjo virtuoso, Jens Kruger (often hailed as the new Bela Fleck) will be joining the team. But one thing is for sure, this night will rock the riverfront in a way that it's never been rocked before.
CSO conductor Bob Bernhardt has already stated, "It's shaping up to be one of the highlights of my entire musical career."
Riverbend Pins ($30), Single night wristbands ($24) and special VIP "STAR" seating tickets ($20) are available at Allied Arts (while they last), at 406 Frazier Ave. Call 756-2787 for more information.Last changed: Jun 04 2010 at 2:51 PM
