The Impact on Area Schools:
ArtsBuild's Imagine! initiative strives to provide arts experiences for all public elementary school students in Hamilton County. This year all 2nd grade students can attend Chattanooga Ballet's production of The Nutcracker, 3rd grade can attend the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera's young people's concert and 4th grade, Southern Lit Alliance's Theatre Express presentation of Young Abe Lincoln. Pilot programs will be developed for Kindergarten and 5th grade by the Creative Discovery Museum and the Hunter Museum of American Art. ArtsBuild furnishes the tickets and transportation along with curriculum support material.
-
National Partnerships:
ArtsBuild and the HCDE collaborate as one of 114 partnership teams across the country participating in the Partners in Education program through the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Through this program, professional development workshops for teachers are presented focusing on arts integration strategies.
-
National Recognition:
Among the national organizations that lend their support to ArtsBuild's arts education initiatives is the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), which has funded ArtsBuild's arts and literacy projects.
